IRCO COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
The Ingersoll Rand Employees Federal Credit Union was chartered April 21, 1966 with 7 members and $94.97 in assets. The credit union grew extremely fast and on January 19, 1970, the existing building at the corner of Hillcrest Boulevard and Warren Street opened to house a full time operation, complete with a manager and a staff of 3. On May 13, 1970 we reached our first milestone by becoming a $1,000,000.00 credit union. On September 19, 1977 the Credit Union's name was changed to IRCO Employees Federal Credit Union. As the membership grew, so did our asset size, reaching $10,000,000 on May 13, 1978.
October 1, 1986 marked our biggest milestone; IRCO officially became a community credit union. Our new name became IRCO Community Federal Credit Union to reflect that change. Currently, anyone who lives or works in the Towns of Phillipsburg or Alpha, or the Townships of Franklin, Greenwich, Harmony, Lopatcong, or Pohatcong are eligible for membership with IRCO. Today, IRCO serves over 10,000 members with assets exceeding $58,000,000.
All share savings accounts are insured to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. The credit union's Supervisory Committee keeps a constant check on our operations and employs a local accounting firm to conduct an annual audit. Federally, IRCO is also audited by NCUA examiners on a regular basis.
Once a Member, Always a Member
This is the credit union motto. Membership can also be expanded to immediate family, including mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, etc.
The main purpose of the Credit Union is to promote thrift and members are encouraged to save regularly. A share savings account may be opened by an eligible applicant simply by completing a membership application. A $5.00 initial deposit is all that is required to open a share savings account and allows members to use any and all of our many products and services.
IRCO Community offers a wide variety of products and services, including share savings accounts, checking accounts, Certificates of Deposit, Christmas and vacation clubs, traveler's checks, money orders, , and IRA's. IRCO also offers many loan options to fit almost any need including Home Equity, new car, 2nd mortgage, and personal loans and our VISA® credit card offers the lowest rate in the area.
In 1991, we dramatically changed the way we do business by moving into a new facility that allowed us to offer many additional products and services to the community. Two drive thru windows, ATMs that are surcharge-free to members, FREE Virtual Branch Online Banking and Bill Pay, Free 24-hour Audio Response, VISA® debit & credit cards, US Savings Bonds, VISA® Gift Cards, night depository, and safe deposit boxes and Saturday hours are just some of the ways we serve all of our community's financial needs..
